PC14-18 House of Lords Select Committee on Regenerating Seaside Towns and Communities - Call for Evidence

The House of Lords Select Committee on Regenerating Seaside Towns and Communities has held a number of public meetings to gain an overview of the key themes relating to its work.

It has now issued a 'Call for Evidence' to explore some of the issues in greater depth.

NALC will be responding to this call for evidence and would welcome members' views on the questions set out in the attached consultation paper.

PC13-18 Labour's Building a Statutory Youth Service Consultation

The Labour Party has recently published its 'Building a Statutory Youth Service' consultation.

The consultation is of particular relevance to local councils as youth services are among the growing range of services being taken on and funded or delivered by local councils.

NALC will be responding to the consultation questions and would welcome members' views, which should be e-mailed to Ben.Murray@nalc.gov.uk by 1700 on Thursday 1st November 2018.

PC12-18 Local Government Association Green Paper on Adult Social Care and Wellbeing

The Local Government Association (LGA) has recently launched its Adult Social Care and Wellbeing Green Paper.

NALC will be responding to this consultation as local councils are increasingly becoming involved in health and wellbeing work.

There are a number of questions set out in the attached document and members are asked to respond to as many of these as they feel are relevant to their council.

Responses should be sent to Jessica.Lancod-frost@nalc.gov.uk by 1700 on 12th September 2018.

GDPR Toolkit updated August 2018

An updated version of the GDPR Toolkit has now been released by NALC.

This updated version reflects changes relating to the appointment of a Data Protection Officer (DPO), which is not mandatory for all local (parish and town) councils, and information about paying the Information Commissioner's data protection fee.

Document Retention Schedule 2018

Cornwall Council Records Office has updated its Parish Council Retention Schedule (2018) to help with deciding on what should be kept locally, preserved and sent to the archive and what can be destroyed.

They are currently unable to take in any new accessions until after their move to a new building in 2019.

Councils should notify the Records Office of any material that needs to be deposited and keep the documents safe until then. The Records Office will be contacting depositors after the move, when they are ready to take in the awaiting material.
